In 1792, Qing Dynasty put two golden urns at Jokhang Temple, Lhasa and Lama Temple, Beijing separately, which serve as tools for determining the Qubilgans of various great Living Buddhas. This set of urn and slips was at first enshrined before Sakyamuni's statue. Later in 1798, the Eighth Dalai Lama took it to Potala Palace's Three Worlds Ukkattha Palace for worship's sake. According to Classified Archives of Artworks of Each Workshop of the Qing Dynasty, the Royal Workshop made the urn (bum-pa) in light of Emperor Qianlong's design and advice on revisions.
