This is the imperial edit decreed by Emperor Shunzhi to the fourth Panchen Erdeni on the 2nd day of the 4th month, 1651, expecting him to urge the fifth Dalai Lama coming to and meeting in Beijing. In the effort of the fourth Panchen Erdeni, the fifth Dalai Lama came to Beijing in 1652 and was conferred the title of "Buddha of Great Compassion in the West, Leader of the Buddhist Faith Beneath the Sky, Holder of the Vaja", which was the first time the central governments of the Qing Dynasty conferred the Dalai Lama reincarnation system. By the grace of the Heaven, the Emperor hereby instructs that

Express my regards to Panchen Hutukutu. Hope you are doing well. We're all well here. For blessing better lives for living creatures, I expect to meet with Dalai Lama on the first month of autumn of the year Dragon. Now invitation envoys are dispatched. Expect you ask Dalai Lama to set off his journey.

The envoys invited are as follows: Lozang Gurshi, Dorji Darhan Noyon, Cagan Glonn, Xilabu Glonn, Khedup Glonn, and previously arriving Tsering.

Rewards are given in addition to the imperial edit as follows: 1 gold tea bucket, 1 gold plate, 100 taels of gold, 2000 taels of silver, 100 bolts of satins.

The 2nd day of the 4th month of the 8th year under the reign of Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty.
