This is the album from the National Government conferring the title “Zen Master of the Nation and Propagator of the Doctrine” upon the Regent Reting Rinpoche in November 1935. After the Thirteenth Dalai Lama went into nirvana in 1933, the Fifth Reting Rinpoche served as the regent from 1934 onwards. During his service, the Rinpoche enhanced relations between Tibet and the central government and assisted Mongol and Tibetan Affairs Commission in establishing its office at Lhasa, Tibet and identifying and determining the late Dalai's Qubilgan. Then in 1947, he died as a victim of false accusations in prison under the frame-up of pro-British forces. (Xiong Wenbin)
