In 1951, the Tenth Panchen Erdeni reached Beijing and offered Chairman Mao Zedong gifts. This is the Panchen's dedication to Chairman Mao. The dedication simply reads, “Tibet has been part of China,” “I uphold The Common Program of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference,” “the Tibetan people want to return to the big family of the People's Republic of China and enjoy a new life of equality, mutual help and happiness.” (Damzin Tashi)
