Since establishment of the People's Republic of China, the reincarnation of Living Buddhas of the Tibetan Buddhist are managed by governments of various levels. The four provinces and regions, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan and Qinghai published regulations on reincarnation of Living Buddhas successively. The State Administration of Religious Affairs published "Methods for Managing the Reincarnation of Living Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism" on July 18, 2007 and it took in effect on September 1 of the year (refer to Illustration 81).
